To learn more about the details of the Invitation To Negotiate (ITN) that the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) posted late last year go to this link and look for "SB 1670 program":

Besides the electronic database system there are other components that include an Interactive Voice Response system, a Call Center and mailing services for non-compliance notification.
TDI should be announcing what company they have selected to construct and run the IVP soon. Very soon.
The various Texas cities that have implemented "uninsured" ordinances are hoping that the IVP will do away with their officers having to make phone calls to check coverage. Which is time consuming and becomes a problem after 5:00 PM because the insurers/agents are closed.
Hopefully the Texas IVP will become the best system in the country.
