Subject: Franchise Tax
The franchise tax has been and continues to be pushing it as far as constitutionality in the first place.
The bottom line is that this is just another backhanded sales tax since most businesses will raise their prices to cover the additional franchise tax.
The Independent Insurance Agents of Texas sound like they are supporting Perry because they know the tax changes will pass and want to be on his good side. The final comment in this piece was a bit fuzzy but the gist seems that the IIAT board member's agency would be paying 4 times more franchise tax than before but thinks that's a good idea? Yea, sure......
