Has the IIAT and Mr. Hotchkiss actually read the bill? Do they understand what a tax applicable to the Gross means? Is the TDI going to allow agents to charge a specific fee to make up for losing a percentage of their gross? By in large insurance agencies have little real estate or equipment that will be used by other industries to write down this tax. I believe Mr. Hotchkiss is very influenced by his plethera of home builder clients who will have large write downs. Is it surprising that Gov. Perry came up with a tax plan that will unquestionably favor his favorite contributor, Perry Homes? It is time for new blood in Austin. If this tax bill passes hopefully all those guys will have to go to work for a living.
