Carlos Lopez, director of traffic operations for the [Texas] department [of Transportation], said a survey of both interstates found that 85 percent of motorists were driving up to 79 mph.
"If people begin to think that the number on the sign is unreasonable, then they won't respect it,'' Lopez said. "Just putting up a lower number on the highway isn't going to slow down traffic.''
Tom Delay--anything goes in Congress, PACs and bribes, etc., etc.,
George W. Bush--prextexts for invading Iraq, impact of tax cuts, borrow and spend,domestic surveillance, etc., etc.,
LBJ--boys will be home by Christmas (Vietnam era Texas truth).
Karl Rove and the Prosperity Christianity vote(Christianity doesn't have anything to say about helping the poor and disadvantaged...it's all about defending marriage and outlawing abortion and whatever else will get us votes so we can raid the Federal Treasury--i.e. tax cuts for a tiny portion of the people)
