The bottom line is that the levees fell down like cheap movie props. It was not a natural disaster that killed so many citizens, destroyed over 100,000 family homes and over 80,000 businesses. St. Bernard Parish and New Orleans were destroyed by the worst engineering disaster in the history of the United States.

Regardless of the law that bars law suits against the government for failed flood control projects, the government was extremely negligent and is responsible and should compensate citizens for their losses. Congress should do the right thing so there doesn't even have to be a trial - scheduled to start three years after the storm. Innocent citizens lost everything and have suffered too long.
