If New Orleans has achieved 63% return on it's population, than a heartfelt congratulations is in order. Having visited the city 3 mos. ago to to support the rebuild ( translation: spend lots of money as a tourist )I was shocked at the amount of damage still existing. There was (is ? ) hardly any avail rentals- and large parts of the city still uninhabitable. The hospitality & support infrastructure has been highly effected as what residential housing is avail, it carries a high cost due to supply and demand. There is still a lot of rebuilding to be done if the city is to imagine the numbers it once had. Don't let the media paint a dismal picture- go see for your self, Christmas will certainly be beautiful in the French Quarter this year, and the city could use the support.
