Insurers obviously never had any desire or intention to cover flood. They didn't collect premium to cover flood. Future loss projections would not include the expenses you are so cavalier about. The policy, representing many years of evolution, clearly stated no flood coverage. If a human wants flood he buys it. Period. From Fema. If you want P & C policyholders to bear the expense of insurers subrogation against the government for losses insurers never meant to cover, didnt collect premium for and don't want anything to do with, then calculate how much cost you all are willing to bear. Because you will pay for it, in your region, in the form of higher premiums. How very generous of you to 'take one for the team'. Great way to put under an insurance company - make them pay for something they don't cover. Maybe I should turn in my auto comp claim to my health insurer. I am sure they would love to subrogate too.
