See, this is why we need more lawsuit reform. We all know that when Ike hits, all these people are going to come crying to the insurance companies, asking for money, when they knew from the git-go that they were at risk for this type of thing. And when the insurance companies tell them that they need to suck it up, you know they're going to go and run to the courts and file lawsuits. Why should insurance companies have to pay for these people's poor decision making? I'm sick and tired of people's lack of personal responsibility. These whining people are going to be looking for handouts for their own stupidity. And when they get mold from it all, they're going to come back whining again. We need to cap their damages, shorten the time for them to file a lawsuit to 30 days after their claim is denied, make them give notice of their intent to file a lawsuit within 15 days after their claim is denied, put the venue in the insurance company's principal place of business only, give jurisdiction to the federal courts only, make them pay insurance company attorney fees if they lose, provide for total bar of their claims if they were in any way negligent in failing to protect their homes, limit discovery from insurance companies to the policy and written correspondence, and label mold claims as frivolous.
