It appears that in this instance the insurers had a valid case. In my own personal experience, there seems to be this perception that the medical system; in general; doesn't feel they need to adher to proper, ethical billing procedures. It's almost like, "if they're dumb enough to pay us this much, fine." This might be due in part to trying to recoup from the uninsured segment, but it still doesn't make it right. Good for the Appeals Court.
