I've lived in Ohio for about a year and a half, and I really do believe the statistics. There is more freight train traffic here than I have ever seen anywhere I have lived. I probably have to stop for a train about once every two weeks during my short drive to work. Unfortunately you can't teach common sense, the lack of which is surely the cause of 99% of these incidents. However I do feel that many of the rail crossings could use improvement in terms of more road signs and more flashing lights, since many of the crossings (in my area) are on winding roads, and it is easy to come upon a crossing suddenly.
