Kevin, you can not buy coverage directly from Citizens. You must find an agent that is still willing to sell policies thru Citizens. You should never purchase ANY type of insurance coverage without going thru an agent. You have no one on your side in the event you have a dispute or problems with a claim. Trust me it is never cheaper to buy without an agent.
You did not indicate where the property is located so it is hard to refer you to an agent. It is also possible that you will be eligible for coverage with a real insurance company which is definetly in your favor. should be considerably cheaper and better coverage. There are still several companies writing in certain parts of the state, but there is many factors that will determine if you are eligible.
What county is it in, what is the age of the home, will you reside in it full time or seasonal, is it in a park, subdivision, or on private property or acreage. This info will help determine if you can get insurance thru a real company.
