Sadly you fail to understand the implications of Floridas Insurance system on any visitor from overseas
Vacation Insurance does NOT cover anyone for treatment on their return to their home country ( same applies to USA people vacationing overseas)
Private Health Insurance which is far too expensive for most people living outside of the USA also will not cover for injuries incurred in an accident overseas and only really covers for immediate surgery as a result of illness like gallstones/cancer etc
State Health cover in Europe and no doubt in Canada is severely rationed and often your only source of treatment is to pay out of your own pocket
Hence if like my Daughter you are injured by some idiot driving carelessly and you cant work and the at fault drivers Insurance Co in the USA wont pay until you are better you land up with a huge debt
10K PIP has gone nowhere to cover the now over 60K of treatment my daughters bills add up to and 2.5 yrs on we still have no idea if the at fault drivers insurance co will pay and NO YOU CANT DEFER PAYMENT either
If you think that is a fair way to treat innocent injured parties visiting your shores you need to think again.
Car Insurance in Europe is way higher than the USA and covering the medical costs for anyone you injure is mandatory
