JHG: Thanks for the advice, I will talk to my lawyer Mon. When this first started, I talked to numerous lawyers in Fl and they would not discuss it or get involved because it happened out of the state. One question I have - PIP will not pay for accidents out of the state if you are not in your car. You will find this in the Florida Statutes, but why isn't this info included in our ins. policy? I don't think this is fair to keep this secret and you only find out after you are involved in an accident & then you find that PIP won't pay, Medicare won't pay & the 3rd party won't pay. My Husband talked to an ins person recently & he said, don't you know what PIP is in Fl? He said, "IN Fl, PIP means, out of state, out of car, out of luck." Why would Fl have a law like this anyway that they won't pay out of the state and then to make matters worse, it's kept secret to most Floridians unless you happen to work with ins all the time, you wouldn't know this. Can anyone out there answer this? I paid for PIP, I paid for Medicare & AARP. I would never go without ins. But I was forced to get an atty. I ended up going to my old Ohio & Baltimore doctors because no doctors in Fl would see me for the accident. If PIP stays, they should get rid of this law or at least make it known to the public what happens if you get run down as a pedestrian out of the state. Most people think as long as you have health coverage, that they will pay. Why is it that some people do get their bills paid by their health ins and other don't? My prior health ins companies would never pay for auto accident injuries, nor will Medicare pay now for bills related to the accident or not related to the accident. I am cut off completely with no coverage for anything.
