I currently am involved in a discussion concerning changing the cancellation notice provisions of the certificate. The Architecht handling a contract has insisted that that notice of cancellation be mailed by certified mail return receipt. My companies have refused to make this change since it would require changing the policy particularly with regard to non-payment cancellations. The contractor gets stuck in the middle and blames the agent. I know that a competitor will eventually issue coverage for the contractor and change the certificate wording in order to get the account and without notifying his company as to what has been done.
