Just a hint folks, if you want to be taken seriously, you may want to take the time to use correct grammar and punctuation, and avoid throwing out (or implying) profanity. It diminishes your arguments and makes you look like a reject from The Jerry Springer Show. Of course, the rest of us do enjoy the comedic effect, intentional or not.

Read the article, people - "The motive behind an assault at work is key in whether an employee can win a worker's compensation claim. State law says that assaults based on personal issues don't suffice, said Scott Galiger, a Greensboro worker's compensation lawyer. "

Got it? State law says that assaults based on personal issues don't suffice. Now we know the law. This is the law that the insurer understood when they priced the business. This is the coverage that the employer purchased. So, are you surprised that the insurance company might suggest that this assault was based on "personal issues"? And what if a jury finds for them? Are you going to blame the jury?

Despite the criminal activity that went on here, the saddest part to read was the woman's statement:

"I fought enough that day for my life,'' Sells said. "Why am I having to fight to have money to live off of?''

Compman had it exactly right - this woman is looking for "money to live off of" and feels that since she went through that experience, now she somehow "deserves" to have some free money. Her statement doesn't say she's injured, it doesn't say she can't work, it says she had to fight that day and now she wants money. And not money from the people who harmed her, but from the comp carrier. This is a classic demonstration of the kind of mentality that is undermining America.

And next time you see him, you can tell Jerry Springer I said so.
