I think people are really disallusional to think things will be better after and if PIP sunsets. Things will actually be worse for a lot of drivers involved in accidents after that happens. Consider the following scenarios? What happens when a driver loses control on a secluded wet road and strikes a tree and is injured, and has no health insurance? Guess what? PIP provided them protection which they will no longer have! And what happens when someone is injured by a tourist who is at fault? How are those lawsuits going to work for people that are not even residents of this country???? As I understand it, rental companies offer optional coverage but it is not mandatory so it is possible the driver will have no liability coverage! And what is going to happen when someone gets hit by a drunk driver with no insurance at all!!! Basically, for the poor and those who are unable to afford escalating health insurance premiums, they will be left out in the cold. And here is one last parting though... what happens when someone is hurt and unable to work for a month??? PIP right now offers 60% lost wages and without that, a lot of people will be injured, unable to work, and uncompensated. These are not remote scenarios but will be common scenarious. There is not even a MANDATORY BI policy in place right now. DRIVE AT YOUR OWN RISK AFTER OCTOBER 1st!!! It is going to be a nightmare for those injured. Save money? Ha! That is not going to be the reality of the situation. Keep listening to the insurance companies. They REALLY HAVE YOUR INTEREST IN MIND!! ARE YOU KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!
