Why would any one be allowed to opt out of the one coverage that has caused the largest losses in recent history. Wind should not be an option. Are we going to get into a situation where I have to have wind because I have a loan but my neighbor does not have to pay for wind because his uncle left him a ton of money to pay off his mortgage. Will legislation require banks to accept no wind homeowners coverage? What agent would allow a customer to exclude it what happens when the next storm hits and the clients say " I did not know it did not cover hurricane damage, I would have never bought it, My agent did not tell me" I'll tell you what will happen, the next round of bottom feeding attorneys will get rich filing E&O claims. Crist it is time that you wised up and realized that consumers are fed up with cost not coverages,If you allow companies to start chopping coverages it will only drive up cost more, consumers need to be protected even if they don't want to pay for it.
