Contributions are what you get when you create an elected position and inject politics into the process. It is unrealistic to expect to have an elected position without contributions. Frankly, the only people interested enough to give money are those who are regulated, producers and insurers. That does not mean that the process is corrupt. George Dale is does an excellent job of balancing the always competing interests of consumers and insurers or he would not have been elected as many times as he has. I dfound him to be a man of integrity in all aspects of his work and life. Unlike an attorney general who is not reponsible for maintaining a competitive marketplace that benefits consumers, a Commissioner must insure a healty market so the citizens of his state have a choice of carriers willing to compete for their business on price, not monopoly. Watch what Florida is doing and see if does not drive companies out of the market and drive rates up.
