I'll chime in on that comment. No one wants to chase a drug company out of America. But it would certainly be nice if the company that makes Zicam would stop hiding behind their "bought and sold" Scientific Advisory Board that has publish scientific information about the safety of Zicam filled with half truths that DO NOT answer most of the tough questions that are being asked. One thing they will never agree to is to instill a dose of the zinc gluconate gel directly on a living, breathing human being's olfactory region. But Why? If it is truly safe, then it will likely not harm anyone's olfaction, right? It's rare for other nasal sprays to cause damage, so why won't test their product. Taste & Smell doctors (with no connection to the Zicam folks) have publicly stated that if sniffed deeply, the gel is in deed capable of reaching the olfactory region..and that was particularly true with their original nasal applicator which they later changed to a "shower" tip when they started getting "heat" about this issue. Again, IF the product is so safe, WHY was there ANY need to change that bottle??? Zinc Gluconate, the active ingredient in Zicam, has also been used by veternarians to sterilize dogs via intra-testicular injection - in other words directly into the dogs testicles to destroy the dog's ability to reproduce. Google "Neutersol". You will see "zinc gluconate" associated with it as its active ingredient. If ZG can do that to a dog, then what the heck do you think it can do when it comes in contact with sensitive tissue like the olfactory region of the human nose? Do victims of Zicam want to run the company out of business??? No. They just want them to come out from behind the green curtain, stop the half-truth propaganda bit and answer the hard questions.
