Subject: RE: Easy to play the blame game
The PA's and folks like you who arm chair quarterback have no idea what it is like to be in the game. Risk management is pretty "risky" in Florida and made worse by a liberal legislature who is content with the Status Quo instead of seeking meaningful refrom that will attract more competition to the Florida Marketplace.
More "State" involvement in the insurance business is NOT what is needed. Government and underpriced "Crist Insurance" will bankrupt the State with one major storm and may never be able to deliver on all the promises it has made. If you think you have seen problems with claims from 2004 adn 2005 wait til you see what happens when the next big storm hits.
What we need are people in the legislative process who will listen to the the truth about what the problems are and do something about it other than offer sound bites that alienate the insurance industry from wanting to do business down here.
The enemy is NOT the insurance industry, its ignorance of the what the real issues are. Our apathy and lack of knowledge are killing us.
If the industry was the problem and profits were what people think they are then everybody and their brother would be down here writing insurance. However, writing coastal insurance is at best a crap shoot and pricing it.............you might as well guess how much you need then double it you still would not know how much it might end up eventually costing you.
