Even before Hurricane Hugo in '89, the industry (property insurance for those readers who don't know much about this subject) was predicting what would happen when the "Big One" (Betsy almost did) made a direct hit on New Orleans, being that it was built below sea-level and protected by only the flood dykes (or is it dikes?). This was Mother Nature's actions at her worst! Now we have seen the results.
The problem is not with Bush and big government, unless it's the local and state level in La., but with the population who CHOSE to stay there despite all of the years of prior warnings.
Maybe they should blame Jean LaFete or whomever built the first cabin down there on the silt-based banks of the Mississippi River before Col Jackson defeated the British in the Battle of New Orleans. I know! Let's blame the British!
