A few cents on the dollar is common for most businesses otherwise all the capital in the world would flow only to certain industries. Last I checked, my retirement investments included some insurance along with numerous other industries. And I would expect that not every Progressive buyer enjoys the 40% discount level.

But the information included in this string shows all kinds of options if the consumer simply takes the time to look around. If I bought from Progressive and they found my driving to not warrant 40% or even 1%, then there is always the newbies, American Family, or whomever. The point is, as others have suggested, there are never ending options to secure lower premium. Just when you think you found the lowest, someone else will enter the market or a big brand will need revenue, and good shoppers will jettison the higher cost and jump to the lower cost.

I do think that carriers that use verifyable information and scientific methods will prevail in the long run. That gets me thinking, I wonder if it is a good time to buy Progressive stock?
