I might be over simplifying the situation in saying the bills came from the agent they might have been sent by the insurer and just reference the agent, but certainly you might be correct.

But why doesn't the agent look out for those things? I know I am getting way off topic here, but this is an interesting blog. The independent guys always say they are looking out for your best interests and shop numerous insurers, etc. Clearly he must have recognized that my credit was impeccable and could be trusted to pay my own bills on time. I think presenting a lower cost option should be part of the independent agents service to me. I think many of those so called independents are really doing the bidding for just one carrier in particular and just put up neon lights for the others to fool the consumer. At least the agents for the big brand names are up front that they are there only to sell State Farm or whatever.

Thanks for your advice though. I will make sure I inquire on such things next time I shop.
