Unfortunately had Duke stood by their coach and students they would have been torn to pieces in the press and would have taken an even bigger hit. They rolled the dice by backing the accuser and they lost. Duke could have handled everything a lot better and not wound up in this position. It would be interesting to know what their policy reads to know if United has a fiduciary responsibility.
