Julie I am sorry for your increased cost, however I am sure you agree that you do not like the government using your hard earned money to pay for things you do not support or to cover expenses that are of no benefit to you. I do not like having to help pay your share of insurance when I do not live on the beach and clearly if you can afford to live in a property in a "V" beach zone you should be paying your fair share of insurance. Because Citizens has NOT been charging you enough in the past, all other Floridians (including us poor folk on the mainland) have been paying assessments to cover the claims that Citizens paid out over the last 5 years and we will continue to pay for another 8 years even if there are no more storms. I believe there is NO place for socialized insurance in America and as soon as Citizens rates increase to cover YOUR actual exposure you will be doing your part to end socialized insurance. Infact you may even have a few companies offer to insure you because they will not be bound by the Citizens rate cap.
Nothing personal, I am sure you are a nice person, but you owe me a refund.
