Based on the article, DeBeikes set up AdvantEdge Staffing California, LLC to "appear" to be a PEO. He then probably suckered the SCIF into writing the w/c for his PEO.

One of the biggest "selling points" (read LIE) is that you get lower w/c rates thru a PEO.

He then switched coverage to Mainstay Business Solutions. (if you Google Mainstay, you find out they're a staffing company), owned by an indian tribe. They've sued in CA court that the CA w/c laws don't apply to indian tribes.

My guess is that DeBeikes sold the coverage to non-indian tribe businesses, and it fell apart when the employer/employee filed a w/c claim.

The whole DeBeikes klan needs to do some time in San Quentin. Maybe Daniel DeBeikes will meet some new friends in the pokey.
