I hear the complaint but what is the proposed solution? Go back to the no-fault system so hospitals can again tap the "deep pockets" of auto insurers?

Hospitals and doctors are entitled to compensation for their services (maybe not as much as they charge but they're entitled). But how they collect it is not the problem of auto insurers.

Each person is responsible for his own medical bills. Most auto insurers still offer some level of first party medical coverage and other types of insurance are available.
