That's a great point you make Terry. Those of us involved in this and other bike issues at the state and federal level encounter the uninformed regularly. Anytime the helmet law issue arises, TV stations run polls asking the general public about helmet laws. Politicians send out surveys asking John Q Public whether he thinks we should we wear helmets.

Other witers have stated the facts clearly regarding NHTSA stats showing a higher accident and fatality rate where helmets are mandatory. People like government numbers, ususally. Seems this is one set the safetycrats want to overlook.
