I've heard the "flawed logic" term bandied about by Floridians in response to criticism of their predicament. This response is itself flawed.

Wildfires do occur from time to time, but in unpredictable places and times. By their nature, they tend to occur in wilderness areas. That's vastly different from massive urban development on a coastal area which YEARLY is subject to multiple storms, which have been documented for decades to hit the same general areas with depressing regularity.

Kind of like the idiots who suggest that living in Kansas is bad because of tornados. Gee, a storm that might occur, lasts a few minutes, and usually leaves a limited path of damage, versus a storm which moves slowly (measured in days), has a damage area miles wide, and damages or destroys virtually everything in its path. And, which happens year after year after year...

Floridians are just trying to come up with excuses for their absolute failure to have decent building codes, control unwise development, pay the true cost of their lifestyle decisions, etc. Give me a break.
