Re: Farmers - your opinion

Thanks for chiming in Lonestar. It's amazing how many of us out there in the indy world now are recovering Farmers people. I don't actually even have any bad feelings about Farmers. Luckily, I had a great DM who trained me very well for my career and actually cared about my success. Most are not tha...

Re: CIC & CPCU at the same time?

PS - As long as the CIC course week wouldn't impede your CPCU study/exam schedule, it really wouldn't have any bearing on the latter. It sounds as if you want to do this quickly. If you have the monetary where-with-all and time, why not just fly around the country... in 5 weeks you'd have your desig...

Re: CIC & CPCU at the same time?

You don't need to do any extra studying before a CIC (or CRM for that matter) course. You DO, however, have to show up everyday with an open mind and eager to learn, pay attention (it can get to be a long day after the first 7 hours), do a little review each night, and study hard the night before. G...

Re: Continuing Education ... Masters Degree in Insurance?

I agree as well. In far less time, you can learn almost as much as there is to know about a subject by completing the right designations. An MBA in Insurance would surely repeat the same subject matter. I would recommend getting the designations and then following an MBA in a discipline such as fina...

Re: CPCU and Opportunities

I only hire producers, so I'd much prefer a CIC to a CPCU. But for the jobs you seem to be interested in, I think what you're doing is right. I'd rather personally have a CPCU or ARM to an MBA in insurance or risk management, respectively. You can always get that MBA in the future, in a discipline l...

Re: Pay As You Go rating

Darnovak, You want one company? How about ALL of them. Try to cut through the fog of your political beliefs and usher yourself into the real world. You act as if these companies want excuses to raise their rates as opposed to using proven data. Go back to your liberal talk radio, and don't worry you...

Re: Pay As You Go rating

I'm sure that these insurance companies actuaries have all of the evidence that you need and then some. Plus, this is a free country where they can run thier exposure levels on whatever risk they choose, whether it be credit, homeownership, or how many teddy bears they have. It should make no differ...

Re: GA's binding responsibility

That's a case where you need to find a new carrier and especially a new GA. Has it taken them nine days to make you aware of this? And what company is "too busy" to write business? I think you're not getting the whole story.
