Re: Thrid Party Cert Managment Wants to Be cert holder

I'm assuming that, since you're dealing with a large national construction company, there are insurance requirements built into the Agreement form. Ask for a copy of those insurance requirements because that's what dictates your client is obligated to provide. Anything beyond that - "NUTS"

Re: Thrid Party Cert Managment Wants to Be cert holder

Most third party cert management companies will have the COI come to them, vs. going directly to the actual Certificate Holder. We (a large hospital system) looked at several of these vendors and decided not to use them because of this issue - i.e. they take over all of the processing and such (we w...

Re: Moving from one insurance affiliate to another?

FWIW, non-compete agreement in California usually don't hold a lot of water. Since your current and potentially future agency are all affiliates of a larger agency, there shouldn't be an issue in making a switch. However it should be the responsibility of the new potential agency to get this answer ...

Re: AI status and 30 day notice of cancel endorsment

I’ll try and address a few of your points, since your response was all over the map, and your train of thought had no caboose.. Having worked in the insurance industry for some 20+ years before working on the “client side”, most insurance carriers have the technology to track who is named as an Addi...

Re: AI status and 30 day notice of cancel endorsment

As the person that handles contracts/agreements for a major hospital system, and all of our Agreements have that wording, I'd probably wind up telling you you're being a twit with that sort of request and attitude. There's also a good chance that I'd make the recommendation we not do business with y...

Re: Low Priced Homeowners Quotes

Thanks for the comments. As to the story behind the story, what I didn't tell you is I've worked in the insurance industry for 25+ years. Both on the agency/brokerage and carrier side, and now on the "client" side in the risk management department for a large hospital system in Texas. It u...

Low Priced Homeowners Quotes

This sorta relates to the separate post "I don't want to tell you my current premiums". Every year, before my homeowners renewal, I get letters from various local agents with surprisingly low homeowners insurance premiums - usually 40% lower than what I pay. Their letterhead includes the n...

Re: Leaving the nest

The agency you currently work for owns that data. Copying, printing, whatever that data could be considered theft of intellectual property, which has severe legal implications. You should also have legal counsel review any current contract/agreement to see if there are any non-compete clauses.

Are you receiving commission on that W/C policy? If so, you'll need to disclose that in your fee agreement.

Re: is a physical exam necessary before taking life insuranc

There are a lot of variables as to whether a physical exam will be required. The amount of insurance, your age, answers to the required health questions, etc.
