Nursing Home (TX)

Postby Smalltownagent » Tue Apr 26, 2011 7:00 am

I'm needing a good market for a nursing home. Property, CGL, BI, flood, & windstorm.

Thanks!

Try Philadelphia. Also, Great American Insurance (E&S side) I believe has an appetite for this type of risk. :P

There are various nursing homes in Texas, but finding the best one is the most difficult part. Aside from the rates, you must assess the history and credibility of the nursing home. Some nursing homes are reported due to abuse of its residents. You should also get feedbacks from its clients to know if the moderators there are good enough in dealing with the seniors. You should also see personally if the facility is clean and sanitized, and if residents can move freely inside.

As some of the comments suggest above the only real way to get a feel for a care home is to visit it and make close inspection. One thing which I've found is a major indicator of a care homes quality is their level of staff turnover.

If there is a large volume of staff turnover in social care jobs (whether firing or quitting) it is a strong indicator that it is not being run to the highest standards. If there are nurses there who have worked there for a reasonably long time then it's likely that they enjoy their job and and it is effectively a well run operation.

I agree with above post that the best way of choosing a nursing home is by visiting it to get a feel of the place. Friends and relatives are good sources of reliable information as well.
