Symbol 31 on an Hyuandi

Postby inshru2 » Mon Jun 11, 2012 11:46 am

Can anyone tell me why ISO woud have a symbol 31 on a 2012 Hyuandi Elantra? 4 cyl 1.6 ltr engine 4dr sedan. $ 23,000 for the vehicle. Nothing fancy. The physical damage rates went through the roof.

One of the reasons is the damageability factor of the vehicle...more pricey to repair, more likely to be totalled in an accident. The cost new and features are just one of the factors that go into the symbol. Loss experience is also factored in.

Keep in mind that ISO adjusted their symbols effective model year 2011 that now go up to 75 instead of 27. This 31 is equivalent to the old 17.
