Speakers from the Texas Department of Insurance, the state comptroller’s office and the Surplus Lines Stamping Office of Texas will discuss topics of importance to surplus lines professionals during a series of October seminars, SLSOT announced.
The seminars will offer the latest surplus lines news and information available. No registration fees are required and attendees can receive three continuing education credit hours pending approval from TDI and TSBPA for CPA credit.
The highlighted topics include: 79th Texas Legislature; agent licensing, non-resident; disciplinary actions; unauthorized insurance; purchasing groups; tax filing requirements; audits of surplus lines agents; penalties and interest; voluntary disclosure agreements; EFS vs. paper filing of surplus lines policies.
The seminar schedule is as follows: San Antonio – Oct. 11; Dallas, Oct. 20; and Houston, Oct. 27.
