The National Association of Surplus Lines Offices awarded the Dana Roehrig Award, an annual honor given to association volunteers, to Insurance Journal’s Publisher Mark Wells and Marti Dickinson of All Risks Ltd.
“The success of this meeting and NAPSLO’s numerous initiatives depend greatly on our many industry members who volunteer their services to the association,” said Mac Wesson, president of NAPSLO.
Wells has been an associate member of the organization for about 15 years. “It’s a great association,” Wells said. “I’ve been going to the annual meeting since the founding in 1975.”
Wells received the award for his volunteer work on the Communications and Technology Committee. “Mark Wells had his staff help in the design of the ad for NAPSLO and then helped to arrange the placement of it in select industry media,” noted Jim Griffith, NAPSLO’s past president. “In addition Mark has worked with the Derek Hughes/NAPSLO Educational Foundation to publicize the ASLI [Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance] designation.”
“I’m terribly, terribly honored but the real credit should go to Jim Carey and Dale Pilkington (chairmen of the committee) and Mike Ardis of NAPSLO,” Wells said.
Dickinson received the award for her volunteer work on the Internship Committee. “Dickinson has long played a major role in policy and procedural changes that have improved and contributed to the overall success of the Internship Program,” Griffith said.
Dickinson has served on three other NAPSLO committees. “Marti has been an excellent mentor and role model for the young professionals with whom she has come into contact,” Griffith added.
“The committee system works really well and I’m delighted to be able to contribute,” Wells said.
