Universal Excess

The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. introduced Universal Excess, a new excess insurance policy that fits firmly over directors and officers, fiduciary, employment practice, miscellaneous professional and tech errors and omissions products issued by any insurer. Universal Excess is a policy form designed for public and private organizations of all sizes. It follows the primary policy in such key areas as exclusions, definitions and severability clauses and is said to allow the underlying limits to be paid by the insured if the primary insurer becomes financially insolvent.
Dollars:
As an excess policy, the coverage follows the primary policies. Limits go to $25 million depending on the type and size of business, and whether it's public or privately owned. There is no minimum premium.

Contractors Liability

Trinity E&S Ins. Services Inc. of Bermuda Dunes, Calif., has expanded its in-house contractors liability program to include the states of Nevada, Arizona, Oregon and Washington. The program, designed for subcontractors, has been written in California for the past several years. For certain sub-classifications there is no residential tract limitation. Risks generating up to $5 million in gross receipts can be accepted.
Dollars:
Minimum premiums start at $7,500. Deductibles range from $1,000 to $2,500 and the limits are $2 million aggregate or $1 million per occurrence.
Carrier:
Arch Specialty rated "A-, XII," nonadmitted.
