First Union Insurance Services Inc., has named Anthony D. Fenton as regional president for its New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Delaware operations.
Fenton, a 25-year veteran in the insurance industry, will also retain his previous duties as executive vice president and chief operating officer with First Union Insurance Services. Fenton succeeds John J. Petillo, who is leaving First Union to become president and chief executive officer of the Newark Alliance.
Petillo will help lead the redevelopment of the city of Newark, a project with which he has already been actively involved. Fenton joined First Union in 1995 after working six years at Salt Lake City-based First Security Insurance Agency, a bank-owned subsidiary, where he oversaw all agency sales activities.
Prior to that, he owned an insurance and real estate brokerage company for more than 14 years.
