Connecticut’s W. R. Berkley Corp. announced the appointments of Robert C. Hewitt as Senior Vice President – Risk Management, and Michael E. Lombardozzi as Senior Vice President – Planning and Operations, and the promotions of W. Robert Berkley, Jr. and Paul J. Hancock, each to the office of Senior Vice President, all effective immediately.
Hewitt, 40, was most recently a Sr.VP of Benfield Blanch Inc.(and its predecessor, E. W. Blanch Co., Inc.) from 1986 to 2002. He managed its New York City Office since 1995. “His principal duties will relate to the Berkley group’s overall risk and capacity management strategy and the oversight of its reinsurance purchasing,” said the announcement.
Lombardozzi, 40, was most recently Sr. VP, General Counsel and Secretary of Orius Corp., a telecommunications company. He was with Berkley Insurance Company, from 1994 to January 2001 where he served as Sr.VP, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. Prior to that, Mr. Lombardozzi was an associate with the law firm of Willkie Farr & Gallagher.
“Rob” Berkley has been promoted to Sr. VP and remains President of Berkley International, LLC. He joined the company in 1997 and was elected to its Board of Directors in 2001. Hancock has been promoted to SR. VP – Chief Corporate Actuary. He joined the company in 1997 and most recently served as a VP in the actuarial department. He came to the company from Berkley Insurance Company, where he was Vice President – Actuarial Manager.
