The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc. has teamed with S. H. Smith & Company of West Hartford, Conn., a leading excess and surplus lines insurance broker, managing general agency and program administrator, to offer professional liability coverage to law firms based in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Under the agreement, S. H. Smith & Company will market and underwrite a comprehensive standard lines program directly and through independent agents with accounts in those three states. The agency “has worked with independent insurance agents and brokers to meet the specialized professional liability coverage needs of lawyers for more than 30 years,” said the announcement, while “The Hartford has provided Lawyers Professional Liability insurance for law firms in most states for more than 20 years.”
According to S. H. Smith President Scott Smith, “the partnership of S. H. Smith and The Hartford’s management and underwriting expertise should be a benefit to all agents and their attorney clients.”
