The Independent Agents Association of Pennsylvania (IIAP) and the Professional Insurance Agents Association (PIA) have agreed to merge their Pennsylvania memberships “to better serve independent property and casualty agents throughout the state.”
Chuck Schaaf, chairman of the board of the Professional Insurance Agents of Pennsylvania, Maryland & Delaware indicated that the members of both organizations wanted to have a single organization to represent their interests in Pennsylvania. The boards of both associations “have agreed that we can better serve our members by merging,” Schaaf stated.
The new organization will maintain affiliations with both the Independent Agents Association of America and the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents. PIA operations in Maryland and Delaware will be unaffected by the merger.
“The new organization formed by this merger will represent nearly 1,400 independent insurance agencies in Pennsylvania. The combined organization will be a strong voice for independent agents in legislative, regulatory and industry affairs and will also offer a variety of products and services designed to make independent agents more successful,” the announcement concluded..
