Pennsylvania-based Harleysville Group Inc. M. Lee Patkus as its new president and chief operating officer.
Patkus joined Harleysville in 1999 and has 25 years of industry experience.
In addition, the company announced the promotions of Douglas Gaudet, who was named senior executive vice president-insurance operations, Catherine Strauss, who was named executive vice president-human resources and public affairs, and Keith Fry, who was named senior vice president-field operations, assuming the role previously held by Patkus.
Harleysville also announced that its board of directors has approved a regular quarterly dividend increase of 10 percent, raising it from $0.15 per share to $0.165 per share.
The dividend is payable Sept. 30, 2002 to shareholders of record on September 16, 2002. The Board has increased the regular annual cash dividend every year since the company went public in 1986. This also marks the 65th consecutive quarter the company has paid a dividend.
