Members of two Pennsylvania independent agent associations, The Independent Insurance Agents of Pennsylvania (IIAP) and the Pennsylvania members of Professional Insurance Agents Association (PIA) of Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware, have approved a consolidation to create one of the largest such associations in the country.
Representing 1,418 agencies statewide the new association will be called Insurance Agents & Brokers of Pennsylvania Inc. (IA&B of Pa.), effective Jan. 1, 2003. It will be affiliated with the national associations Professional Insurance Agents and Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America.
The merger in Pennsylvania means the Maryland and Delaware parts of the former PIA of Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware will become separate associations under the umbrella of Insurance Agents & Brokers Service Group Inc. The associations will be called Insurance Agents & Brokers of Maryland Inc. and Insurance Agents & Brokers of Delaware Inc. and will remain affiliated with the national PIA. Members in all three associations will enjoy the increased benefits and services resulting from the consolidation.
