The School of Risk Management at St. John’s University (SRM) and the International Insurance Society, Inc. (IIS) announced the planned opening of a state-of-the-art global digital Insurance Hall of Fame gallery at the SRM, St. John’s University Manhattan Campus, New York, in July 2003.
The facility will display high-quality photographic reproductions of 106 Hall of Fame portraits, which are located at the Insurance Hall of Fame in Tuscaloosa, Ala., as well as the citation and biographical information, in English and other languages, for each of the Laureates of the Hall of Fame.
Joseph Smetana, retired vice president, American International Group, Inc., and an alumnus of The College of Insurance, is donating the funding for the gallery, which will be named The Joseph and Claire Smetana Gallery of The Insurance Hall of Fame.
According to Patrick Kenny, president and CEO of the International Insurance Society, based in New York City, and Dr. Ellen Thrower, executive director of St. John’s School of Risk Management, the opening of the gallery in the world’s preeminent financial center will make this the premier location for viewing a unique and historical collection.
It will be accessible to industry professionals, as well as students, faculty and business leaders from around the world.
