W. R. Berkley Corporation announced the formation by its subsidiary, Admiral Insurance Company, of a new underwriting division. The new division, Admiral Excess Underwriters, will specialize in the underwriting of casualty excess of loss insurance.
William Murray will be named president of the new Connecticut based division effective April 16. Murray has 17 years experience in casualty insurance, and was most recently senior vice president of General Star Management Company. Admiral Excess Underwriters will write business predominantly through wholesale brokers.
Admiral Insurance Company is W. R. Berkley Corporation’s largest excess and surplus lines carrier and is rated “A+ (Superior)” by A.M. Best Company, Inc.
