Pennsylvania-based PMA Insurance Group announced that Marie F. Hatam, MD, MBA has joined PMA as Vice President and Medical Director; Glenn R. Giveans has been promoted to Assistant Vice President and Assistant Branch Manager – New Jersey, and Nick Bozzi has been promoted to Assistant Vice President – Corporate Broker Development.
“Dr. Hatam’s primary responsibility is to further PMA’s commitment of controlling medical costs for the company and its customers as well as providing injured workers access to quality and cost-effective health care and assisting in their timely and safe return to work,” said the bulletin.
She moves to PMA from her post as VP of Medical Affairs with the Delaware Plan of Coventry Health Care, Inc. She began her managed care career in 1993 with Independence Blue Cross (IBC) in Philadelphia.
Giveans will also retain his responsibilities as Manager of Commercial Markets Underwriting. He joined PMA in 1998 as an Underwriting Manager, Commercial Markets. He began his insurance career in 1983 with CIGNA Insurance Company, where he held positions of increasing responsibility during his ten-year tenure, including Senior Underwriter, Team Leader and Vice President, Manufacturer and Wholesale Unit. From 1994 to 1998, he was Underwriting Manager for Reliance Insurance Company.
Bozzi will be “primarily responsible for managing the development of relationships with key national and regional insurance brokers in the Northeast,” said the announcement. He joined PMA in 1998, and previously served as the company’s Corporate Business Development Manager.
The bulletin also noted that “the PMA Insurance Group primarily distributes its products and services through approximately 300 independent insurance agencies and brokerages located from New York to Tennessee.”
