Allmerica Financial Corporation, of Worcester, Mass., announced that Joseph R. Ramrath has been appointed to the company’s Board of Directors, effective immediately. He is a managing director of Colchester Partners LLC, an investment banking and strategic advisory firm located in Boston.
“Joe’s experience and expertise make him an excellent addition to our board,” commented Frederick H. Eppinger, Jr., Allmerica’s President and CEO. “I look forward to working with Joe and I know that we will benefit from his experience and knowledge.”
Ramrath has extensive experience in financing and transactions. Prior to joining Colchester, he was Executive Vice President and General Counsel of United Asset Management, a division of Old Mutual, where he served as a member of the management committee and a leader of the acquisitions and subsidiary operations team.
Prior to joining United Asset Management, Ramrath was a partner and member of the management committee of Hill & Barlow, a Boston law firm. He spent five years as a certified public accountant with Arthur Andersen & Co. before attending law school, and will join the Audit Committee of Allmerica’s Board.
He is also a director of New England Business Service, Inc., a leading business-to-business direct marketing company with 2.6 million active small business customers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and France.
