The Citizens and Hanover Insurance Companies announced that Cynthia H. Young has been named president of the companies’ personal lines divisions, effective June 1. As president, she will be responsible for all aspects of personal lines operations and will be a member of the companies’ operating committee.
Young comes to Citizens and Hanover from The Hartford Insurance Company, where she served the last two years as vice president of product management for the company’s South Central Region. In this capacity, she was responsible for auto, homeowners and umbrella coverages sold through agency and direct distribution channels in 22 states. Young also served as a senior product manager at The Hartford prior to this time.
From 1993 to 2001, Young held a number of senior positions at Progressive. While at Progressive, she served in leadership roles in the company’s product management division, and was the product manager for the company’s auto insurance operations in Georgia. She also served as senior and regional claims attorney for financial institutions directors and officers coverage, Bankers’ Blanket Bond, and Trust errors and omissions products in Progressive’s Diversified Business Group.
Before entering the insurance industry in 1993, Young was a general litigation associate at the law firm of Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue, where she provided legal advice and support to a number of Fortune 500 companies.
