Last month, New Jersey state officials announced that GEICO is now selling private passenger automobile insurance in the state through the company’s Web site, geico.com. This was good news not only for New Jersey drivers, but also Buffalo, New York residents who are looking for career opportunities. GEICO’s Buffalo office will be handling New Jersey sales, service, and underwriting, and it is looking to expand.
“This is a great time to be at GEICO,” said John Zinno, manager of the company’s Buffalo office. “We are growing, and our entry into the New Jersey market is going to require hundreds of good workers to handle this additional responsibility. We know we can find these associates in Western New York.”
GEICO’s Buffalo staff currently operates out of office space on John Muir Drive. Plans are underway to begin construction on a new GEICO service center within the next few months. The company expects to hire 300 people in the next four to six months, and an additional 2,000 when the new center is complete.
Zinno says there are job opportunities in the underwriting, sales, and service areas. When the service center is finished, a claims department will also be added.
