Philadelphia Insurance Companies has been named the official insurance sponsor of the 2005 City of Philadelphia Triathlon on June 26, 2005.
Registration for the event closed with 1,250 athletes signed up for the Olympic-distance triathlon (1.5 km swim/40 km bike/10 km run) representing more than 25 states and Canada. The race weekend will include an all-day consumer expo and carbo-loading dinner the day before with live music on-site and a post-race celebration.
There will be several athletes from the company competing in the event including founder and chairman, James J. Maguire, Sr. and executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Sean Sweeney.
“We’re pleased to be involved with the inaugural Philadelphia Triathlon, because the city has such a rich tradition of athletic excellence! The triathlon has recently become an Olympic sport, and it’s an honor to be involved in an event that requires exceptional preparation and fitness levels to successfully complete the competition,” said Sweeney.
In the Athlete Expo Village, Philadelphia Insurance Companies marketing representatives will be giving out free race belts to all athletes participating in the triathlon. The insurer will be registering athletes to win a two-night stay at the Four Seasons Hotel in Philadelphia, along with a free race entry into next year’s Philadelphia Triathlon.
