The American Insurance Association (AIA) announced today that John P. Murphy will join its northeast regional operation as regional vice president. Murphy will manage regional offices in Boston and Albany, New York, which are responsible for advancing AIA’s state legislative and regulatory agendas in New York, New Jersey and the six New England states.
Murphy brings 16 years of experience from Liberty Mutual Insurance company where he most recently served as assistant vice president and senior legislative counsel. He joins AIA from the New England Conservatory where he was the planned and major gift officer since 2003.
He officially joins AIA on Oct. 24. Murphy replaces Paul Moran, who left AIA this past summer.
Murphy earned his law degree from the Boston University School of Law, and he has an M.A. degree in Political Communication from Emerson College in Boston, and a B.A. in English from Saint Francis College in Loretto, Pennsylvania.
